queensland 1770, Lamont Reef and Fitzroy

Heading up the coast to escape this crappy weather we're stuck in here.

Heading up on Sunday arvo, sleep over at 1770 then at forst light we'll head out to the reefs and do some fishing and I may even give spearing a go (the giys I'm going with all spear). Should be back on land Wednesday arvo.

Will post up a report when I get back. Hopefully will get some decent trout and a Spanish or 5.

Best of luck. Weather is looking awesome. Can't wait for my next trip up there.

We usually get plenty of good trout around Lamont and nice red emperor on the ocean side of Fitzroy.

Dom said it, hope the weather stays with you its a crap of a trip back when it changes. Dom and I did it last year and it is an awesome place and a greta spot to stay in the reef when its blowing, like a mill pond.

Thanks guys. Heading off at noon tomorrow.

I've done the trip once before and inside Fitzroy got some MASSIVE squid so I'll be fishing for that at night and early morning. the heads make great bait for the day to. WIll hit up the ocean side to try and find some reds but we usually hand around the 30m mark for spearing. Been smoked in that depth on 50lbs braid so there are some monsters lurking around.

Will be doing some light jigging in the deeper stuff.

OOOO it's getting exciting.

That's a nice red mate, would kill for that.
