Disposal of dredge material in the Barrier Reef

All I can infer from this is that they will now be charging for dumping of dredge material on defined spoil grounds within the GBRMP. There are spoil grounds off every northern population centre, where they have been doing this for decades so it looks like a bit of a revenue earner for the GBRMPA. I know the two spoil grounds off Cairns where they dump dredge material from Trinity inlet are miles and miles from the reef itself (I was involved with surveying them in the Navy) so I imagine (and hope) they have no effect, not sure about Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone.
