Everything from fish hooks to boats!!

It is a top outing and some real bargains to be had for the early birds and if anyone is in the market for a boat it is an opportunity so see them all together and do a bit of haggleing and the entry fees support the local VMR and school.

Unfortunatly I have agreed to to to Awoonga 2 days early so will miss it. But maybe a AFO stall if there are a few people wanting to sell excess gear ( is there such a thing??)

Here is a bit of a write up of the last one.

oint VMR in Redlands.

It attracts stallholders from as far as Hervey Bay and Toowomba.

The market has been steadily growing in stalls and buyer attendance since its inception four years ago. This year there were more than 160 stallholders.

Boating bits and pieces discovered in the last garage cleanup were up for sale as well as superfluous items that boaties seem to collect.

On sale were stoves, sails, nautical antiques, fishing supplies new and used; in fact almost anything one could possibly want for a boat, even the boat itself.

Boats on offer graduated in size beginning with a kayak, inflatable tenders, a sailing dinghy, traditional craft, fishing tinnies and half-cabin cruisers with the largest being a 5.2 metre sailing catamaran.

Commodore, Shane Rudolph, of Victoria Point Volunteer Marine Rescue, said that even if boats weren't sold on the day, they often sold in the following weeks due to the exposure to buyers they received at the market.

The market is not restricted to boating paraphernalia. One stall sold model aircraft, another sold wooden toys and many had household items and still another jams and pickles.

The sausage sizzle, the proceeds of which went to the Victoria Point State Primary School P&C, provided an early morning breakfast for the eager bargain hunters and a snack for the later shoppers.

With near perfect weather conditions and enthusiastic shoppers, Commodore Rudolph expected the Boaties Market to raise over $2,500 for the Victoria Point VMR and thanked the VMR crew who organised and manned the market. The next Boaties Market will be held in October.

If you want to be in the running for the ultimate bargain, set the alarm, charge the torch batteries and practice calling in a jovial 5.30am voice \"Whatchagot there mate?\"

For those who arrive later in the morning there will still be interesting wares to see and buy, demonstrations, promotions, advice, meeting and chatting in the true market tradition.

Cheers

Ray
