Mercury 30hp 2 stroke propeller selection...need help...

Hi guys,

Boat: 4.3m Aluminum Tiller

I have a dilemma, I need to change the propeller on the 99 mercury 30hp 2 stroke and dont know what I should get or what the standard prop spec would be also...the current prop has no serial numbers indicating what it is so I'm guessing its a generic one and not even a mercury...

After doing some digging, I'm guesing maybe a 3 blade 13" pitch aluminum prop?

(only looking for an aluminum replacement)

I'm mostly at max throttle all the time but also want the boat the plane easily also...so leaning more towards top speed but also would like to plane easy too.

What have you guys gone for and what should I be looking out for?

Heard some people recommend solas prop's but they're only like $20 cheaper from the genuine mercury prop...?

Any difference in a 11" and a 13" prop?

You need to talk to solas or one of the no bull mercury dealers. Things that they will need to know is type of hull how much weight in it. ie passengers,leccy batteries live well etc so that they can recommend a suitable size. Solas used to offer an exchange service if what you brought wasnt suitable.

Remove your prop and have a look underneath and you will see what size it is.

after some heavy scratching of the paintwork, I think I see a 11 1/4 stamped in so I'll probably just get another size of that size...

I wonder if 13" would make any difference...
