They don't seem to lose too many of their tuna so maybe @samsteele115 should get in contact for a few tips .  Only joking haha.  That's a pretty cool way of catching them.  Definitely better than dragging big nets through the area picking up various unwanted by catch that would most likely be discarded once caught.

Haha - have seen similar before on the web but doesn't stop you being impressed with how quickly they come over the side!!!  Wonder what they have at the end of their line to attract them - some sort of fly I suppose?

You are a wealth of knowledge @aussie123 cheers. No barb I noticed, make them easier to flip off the hook I guess. I wonder if the guy flicking the burley into the water gets paid the same as the guys doing the hard work!!!

They are designed to fall out of the fish with slack line which is why most fish come off the hook after the first bounce on the deck.

As for the bait guy, he probably is on the same wage as the fisherman.

It is actually his technique that brings the fish up to the boat and holds them there so you would find he would be more experienced than the guys on the poles.

If he stuffs up, the entire school swims away and no one makes any money.

A lot of these commercial boats have tiered wage systems based on qualifications and time served.
