Diy Kayak Repair

Hey team,

Just a quick one. I am chasing some advice on patching the poly on one of my yaks.

A combination of ramps and rocky bottoms has finally made a hole I cannot ignore.

I tried a product from Bunnings that read like it should do the job well (poly bonder I thought it would effectively melt together with the yak poly) but after 1 trip it peeled off. Disappointing but it did not cost much.

Any advice would be great.

Hi Angus,

This happened to me a few years ago.

I used the plastic welding kit from Bunnings to rebuild the bottom keel.

I then finished it off with the kayak repair patch from Freak Sports - https://www.freaksports.com.au/product/patchnprotect-kayak-repair-patch/

Dave from Freak Sports said you can probably just use this to fix the holes as it's made from plastic and Kevlar.

I haven't had a problem since.
