Sportstuition/Akff Hervey Bay Comp - Aug 9 - 13

Hi Guys,

Following the great lead set by AFO, AKFF have asked Sportstuition to organise a kayak event for us up at Hervey Bay. It runs from Sat 9th Aug - Wed 13th (Ekka Holiday).

As per the AFO events, this one will be fully catered by Steve & come with Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Morning/arvo Teas. Steve has even offered to run 2 separate breakfast shifts for those who fish early then come back to eat and those who eat then fish. In addition there will be the usual tutorials including a breifing from a local guide at the start of the comp with tips on fishing in the area. Accomodation wise, Steve has arranged for a separate area to be set aside for us at the Torquay caravan park. It is BYO camping gear but if you don't have it or are flying in he can arrange some for an additional $25.

As part of the camp, one day has been set aside for a day trip on the barge to Fraser, including the kayaks. We'll walk them on, have a paddle & fish on the inside of the island and take the return barge back. This trip is optional & the cost is $50 for you and your kayak, payable to the barge operator.

Steve will be bringing the usual flotilla of kayaks for those who don't have one & in additon Viking & Hobie may also be able to supply some. So if you don't have a kayak you can still come, or if you do have one you can bring a mate along and introduce him or her to the sport.

The rules for the fishing comp are yet to be finalised, however Steve has arranged for Wilsons to come on board with some prizes & has another sponsor in discussions.

The cost for the 5 days is $330 which includes all meals, accodation and entry to the fishing comp. There is pricing available on a daily rate also. Obviously it will be BYO alcohol

I reckon that will be a sweet trip!!

Whats more Steve can probably get on board with loaner kayaks again so anyone without a kayak should consider this one.
