Fitting New Bung

Just wondering how to go about this, We are pretty sure the housing around our bung is leaking in a bit of water, and we are trying to replace it, The old housing is riveted in so how should we go about getting this out? Then when we go to put the new one in is their anything extra that needs doing or are we safe to just put the new 1 in then seal around the outside?

drill out the rivets. get a new bung setup, some have a gasket some dont, i would add a sealent and pop rivet in the new one.

First off make certain it is not the washer around the bung, sometimes they get a bit of gunk on them thats stops them sealing. If not just drill out the rivets with an 1/8 drill ( no 30 in metric )

Either use rivets to hold new one in or stainless screws. Seal it in with sikaflex.

Ok thanks guys, We will probly Reseal the old housing and buy a new bung first, Hopefully that works.

Cheers, also whats the best sealant? We only want a little bit so would rather not buy a whole cartridge.

Sikaflex you can buy it in small tubes and if your missus will leave you it will keep for years in the freezer.
