  1. Hey Old Scaley Ah, that's a pity. I had a quiet one today too - one perch which didn't even fight and just some prawns for bait. Not even any OK bites or runs! (I came home early to study for a Japanese exam). At least you got the tailor and ellicat got the stripeys Cheers Hamish
  2. Hey Breaming with bro An OK heavy reel is the Penn 650 SSM. It has good drag, casts quite well, and can take a lot of 20-30lb braid. I don’t find heaviness an issue but then again I mainly live bait with it. Oh, and I got mine for ninety bucks so they won’t blow the bank. I guess if you’re doing lure fishing on it you could struggle. Cheers Hamish
  3. Hey Haz91a I have found a few links for you as I don't know/haven't fished there. Hope they help. The first one is a month old - https://www.fishnbits.com.au/blogs/news/fishing-report-25th-june-2020 (OK Sorry - I could only find one recent one) Cheers Hamish
  4. Hey Ryannnnnnnn Yep, only the first one. Crap pots are a no go in fresh. The most effective way to go redclaw is with opera house traps anyways, I believe. Cheers Hamish
  5. Hi rayke1938 Thanks for that, it looks great. I'll be reading it when I have a bit more time. I might have to make my own release weight! Cheers Hamish
  6. Hi Breaming with bro It depends on what you're targeting. If you are targeting barra, or cod, or jacks, you may want to use 20-30lb leader (even heavier if you're going for the real bigguns) but if only targeting flatties, bream, and even soapies you may only want 8-20lb leader. Cheers Hamish
  7. Woohoo! Sounds great GregOug. Good luck. Hopefully you can smash some for the Suburbs of Origin comp (unlike me. I'm struggling to get my name on the board. Lol) Cheers Hamish
  8. Hey Towknee I have a fishing cart to get to the local park, (not sure if you know). It works very well, and once you mount some rod holders on it it's great! Here is the thread I did about making it - Cheers Hamish
  9. Now that map is open to everyone, the rotten Northsiders won't get their grubby hands off it @ellicat! Cheers Hamish
  10. Sounds good Haz91a. Hopefully you can start catching some bigguns! Welcome to the forum as well. You'll like it on here and hopefully learn a lot too! Cheers Hamish
  11. Hey Breaming with bro That looks cool. Hopefully the cheaper X4 works better. I'd assume X8 will always be better due to price, and the reason it's smoother (or the reason X4 is rougher), may be because of the fibres used to make that braid. Just on another note, how are you going left hand reeling? Cheers Hamish
  12. That one went straight over my head Drop Bear. Lol. Could you please explain? Cheers Hamish
  13. Hey all Here is this weeks edition of Bush and Beach fishing. Looks like fisheries have cleaned up some things too! https://bnbfishing.com.au/?mc_cid=3448045486&mc_eid=9020033529 Cheers Hamish
  14. Good one rayke1938. I love the shot of the boat up on land. Cheers Hamish
  15. Hey Dinodadog Haha, that's pretty funny. He did a good job on the fish though. Looks like he had a great haul! Cheers Hamish
  16. Hey kmcrosby78 Good luck. Hopefully you manage a stonka or two! I've never even caught a tailor, so I'd be happy with a PB of 44cm Cheers Hamish
  17. Hey Neil Welcome to the forum, and that is a great tailor session. Good job. I've never heard of tagging tailor so I am curious to hear about that also. Keep up the great reports Cheers Hamish
  18. Hey kmcrosby78 Lol. That's just the one I was looking at in the original post. It looked like the best deal ever, but I guess it was to good to be true (never got a response back so assuming they sold it!). Hi Towknee I've been there once on a family bike trip, it is massive! The locals there knew what they were doing and were fully set up, but I only had a few measly SP's and my telescopic line. They, on the other hand, had a heap of lines, and one of them was even using pike gut for bait! Cheers Hamish

I think that would be a lot more than $13, Angry51! Cheers Hamish
  20. I will make sure to get it off you to file a complaint if I do not start to get paid next term (3 weeks). Then again, I may get in trouble. They might not like the fact someone who isn't even a teenager is calling and complaining I may also invest in a quality heavy set up (50LB) for sharking and heavy fishing in general if I have enough by Summer holidays...Then I just need to try and catch something on it I reckon I'll save for a boat first though and put that other idea off for a couple years. Cheers Hamish
  21. Good luck ellicat. Hopefully you manage some bigguns! Cheers Hamish
  22. Right. I'm doing the first term for service hours for my school (I'm trying to get the gold award which requires 40 hours service). I've started trying to hit up my dad for money though but he wants me to finish off this term as 'probationary' dunny cleaner Cheers Hamish
