GC dawn raid

Hit the GC canals with Leighton before sunrise this morning in the hope of tackling with the local red fish population. There was hardly any breeze and the few days before had all been hot so conditions were best they had been in a while.

Working along a rockwall we manage a solid hit after about 15 mins and boat a 38cm Jack. A few casts later we hook up again and after a good fight land a good Cod around the 50cm mark - bit disappointed as we both thought it was another red fish.

The next hour or so are spent throwing surface lures at Trevally busting the surface and we land around 5 Big Eyes in the 30cm range and a smaller Bream.

I had to be at work by 8 so we tried a couple of spots before giving it away and Leighton finishes with a chunky Sea Toad and a 57cm Flattie.

All fish fell to poppers and diving hard bodies, and all were released to catch again.
