your thoughts on my mangrove jack setup

Hello AFOers

Im trying a setup based on advise from some BCF bloke and Im wanting to hear if you think what im using is going to give me a shot at some of those illusive Mangrove Jacks.

Ive got 15lb braid and a 20lb leader.

Im using a few different lures but my main weapon of choice is a 11.4cm Deep Diving Bomber lure in gold and orange.

might this just work

if you can find them, there is a River to Sea Deep diver Suspen. Its in a Hard Bubble Pack, Gold and orange 90mm long. Just make sure you get the "deep "

Its a Smith Cherry Blood Knock off at a third of the price at about $10

and no Mo Tackle dont have any left;)

Remember the heavier the leader the less action and depth your lure will get

Its 6lb braid and 8lb leader with some sx40's attatched.

Your setup sounds like a good starting point.

Yep.

Unless you have lots of lures spare You need to be casting right in to the snags, and stopping the fish more or less dead in its tracks on hook up.

Ill be using a baitcaster that i have had virtually no practice with...

Fishing from I kayak i have only used a handfull of times before!!

I think its going to be a cold, wet and expensive day!

Good luck, you could be right! Screw up the brake on the bait caster until you get used to it! If it has a magnetic brake as well, set it at 3/4's!
