Headed to bretts warff 2 days ago, in search for my first threddy! Cast netted a few big herring, which took ages to get as there was no other live bait around. Had my 6500B baitrunner sitting out with a with one of the live herring on. Tide was fairly low, on my reel i had 40LB braid and a 40LB leader (pretty heavy stuff). Ten minutes had gone and i was on the other side of the pontoon. My reel screamed for about 5 seconds, by the time i got to it, i reeled up and my 40pound leader had been cut. Didnt even get a chance to engage my baitrunner. Anyone know what it could have been? Got nothing else all nite, put a wire trace on and then had no runs at all.

I am very much so trying to catch one of them also, u rekon its worth a shot again? What sorta rig should i use next time?

i've caught a few bullies off bretts, some big ones out there too. throw some wire on and go again i reckon. i also find its heaps easier to get livies from newstead park than from bretts
