newbie - kind of

Hey guys,

Kinda new to this site.. long time reader... went on a bit of hiatus from fishing and back again. Now really getting back into the swing of fishing. Try to get out at least once a week.

Just a question. I have a ugly stick rated for 4 - 8 kilos with reel and line to suit ( combo set).I have been up to north pine a few times now and got nothing ( using spinnerbait) and its getting really frustrating. Which got me thinking that my setup probably isnt ideal for it. What should i be targetting with my setup??

Your rods probably a bit big for anything but the biggies in the rivers, 2-4 kilo would be closer to the mark for general fishing

I think go lighter...how heavy line are you using?

i'm not sure... came as the combo.. im assuming it'd be like 6 kg
