Guys, below is a copy of a press advertisement for the Brisbane Valley Sailing Club out at Hays Landing Wivenhoe Dam. Its pretty self explanatory and if you have never been out there, then this could be your chance for a sail or fish in the area.

Questions...... PM me.

Approximately fifteen minutes from the developing rural town of Fernvale, on the Eastern side of Lake Wivenhoe, is one of South East Queensland’s best kept secrets. The Brisbane Valley Sailing Club is generously opening its gates to their club facilities at Hays Landing on Lake Wivenhoe. Not only are they opening their gates to the public, but also encouraging any persons who own a sailing boat to come and test the ever increasing water levels that Lake Wivenhoe has to offer at Hays Landing.

The facilities at the Brisbane Valley Sailing Club are not usually open to the general public, as members entry is via a locked gate; however the BVSC has decided to host this family-fun day to promote their little slice of heaven at Hays Landing.

Brisbane Valley Sailing Club extends this invitation to not only sailors, but also to fishermen, kayakers, naturalists and day trippers to come and explore what the Sailing Club has to offer. Gates will open for entry between 9.30 and 11.30am on Sunday 3rd May 2009, with club members on site to welcome and assist visitors with information, membership enquires, rigging and sailing tips.

Visitors will also be encouraged to participate in a fleet sail event with club members at 1.00pm where we will aim to get as many sail boats and sailors on the water as possible.

The Brisbane Valley Sailing Club sails every second weekend, with a racing calendar from August till June each year. Sailors interested in racing are encouraged to speak with a BVSC member who will answer any questions, provide information sheets and membership application forms.

So wash down your boat, and don’t let the dust knock the wind out of your sails, and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to sail on the waters of Lake Wivenhoe.

Brisbane Valley Sailing Club is located at the end of Bryden Road Dundas which runs off the Wivenhoe Somerset Road opposite the NorthBrook Parkway.

No Ray, memberships are not due till first week of August and its the first 2 weekends that we will have members on site to take new and renewal memberships and swap keys etc.

However.... for anyone that wants to come out on 3rd May and join, they will receive a 15 month membership for the first year ie from 3rd May 2009 till 30th July 2010.

Membership fees have not been ratified by committee just yet (but will be before June 3), but hust thought it a good heads up for interested peoples.....

Well I hope that all who come out for a look were suitably impressed with the area. We signed up a stack of new associate members and a couple of sailing members.

Standby for a sunday date when I will be out there for a fish and can sign a couple of visitors off here in for a fish and BBQ.
