Rapers Shoal / epirbs

Hi , just wondering if anyone knows of some good reefs that arent more than 2nm offshore? Have marked out a few reefs on the GPS such as Rapers Shoal at Mooloolaba..we were going to go out there not long ago but it was far too choppy.. . Anyone here fished that shoal lately and how did you go?

yer mate theres a goof reef at manly/wynum it at manly harbour right where all the boats are.the reefs are good for flathead,bream,whiting, taliour and occasionly snapper.you can go by boat or land based boat would be better as the reef is just inside casting reach but if you want to catch some good ones take the boat ond go strait into the reef.also theres some good reefs at redcliffe,if you follow the road from the hornibrook bridge which is hornibrook esp follow it down untill you reach oxley ave follow oxley ave down until you reach anzac ave turn right there.you will end up at a round about.turn left onto redcliffe pde follow that down until you find a jetty which has a rock wall.behind that rock wall is a awesome reef. you cant access that by foot mate so a tinny or kayak would do the job.

rappers shoal aint bad, good early mornings and late arvos. mostly snappery squire, grassys and a few mackeral in season

You can fish the reefs just off cape moreton like brennan schoal and roberts schoal these are just inside the two klm mark and there is a bit of ground close into the cape.

Just wait to save a bit more cash for an epirb. I wouldn't feel safe offshore without one even within 2nm of land. You will have many more options open to you and you will be getting more in return rather thaning spending money on fuel for hit and miss results.
