A mate and I gave Sweetwater a crack over the weekend at Lake Maroon. We put the boat in at about 7am and headed off to the lakes weed edges to fish topwater lures and lightly weighted soft plastics. In theory we had it sorted but the wind and water turbulence didn't want to play our game.

After a few hours and a thousand casts later we gave trolling ago with some jackals, both hard and semi-soft varieties. There were large schools of fish showing up on the sounding in about 30ft of water and we could not tempt them to bite.

The end tally was 1 bass (just on 30cm, no Hank but maybe next time) for the day, a bit disappointing.

I'm sure if the weather was a bit better with less wind it would be a top spot.

We used to have our school camp on Maroon. Is blue green algaie still a problem??
