Somerset trip

I have had a look through previous threads and learnt some valuable information. But as you can guess I have never fished a dam before.

With the trip coming up is there anything special i need to know. Permits and that is sorted, in terms of bait do you have to use those pellet things i have read about or can you use normal stuff.

HB's or SP's for somerset, though i can see the answer for that one already so what are a good brand of HB lures for bass. In terms of plastics i assume you just use your normal berkley or whatever you prefer and take a few different colours.

Also am i better of purchasing those all terrain jig heads that offer less in the snaggage department if using Sp's or just stick with the stock standard ones.

In terms of drag do you fish with very very little in order to as i think elli or cow described 'skull dragging' them away from the snags.

I saw on this american bass comp most were using football jigs. is this something i should look into purchasing.
