Downrigger help

[Pelican]

Hi, im planning on buying a downrigger for my boat. I’m just wondering if anyone has any tips on the best brand/ model to buy. Or even brands NOT to buy.

Mate i do not no alot about them but i do know that shops here are way over priced and if you look at some american or overseas online tackleshops like cabelas you will get them delivered with a bomb for around 50% cheaper then most here. Personally i like scotty but you pay for the brand.

Mine is a litle Cannon mini troll, is about ten years old and still works a treat.

A cobber has the little Scotty and it is good too.

Be aware that the wire may \"sing\" quite loudly through an alloy hull. Some find that quite off-putting.
