HI folks, I am going up to Airlie Beach end of april and I was looking to do some land based fishing.. Can anyone help us out with useful spots ?

I stayed at Airlie for my schoolies break and I caught some nice queenies on the full tide around the area I've circled. Also saw a few free swimming barra and got busted off by some bigger trevaly!

All I was throwing was small poppers and stick baits like the bassday sugapen and caught heaps!

Awesome , thanks heaps... We are staying only a stones throw from there. I mostly use soft plastics but I might go stock up on some poppers... What is a stick bait ??

Hey Chrislocke, i googled the bass sugar pen stick bait.. nice looking lure, where abouts in Brisbane can I buy them ?? I checked the tackle warehouse site but the product search doesnt show them

Most good tackle shops sell sugapens for $23-26. To be honest I'm not familar with shops down your way but we have them up here at Noosa!

The rock walls around the harbour a worth a shot on sunrise and sun set, also check out Shute Harbour the small pontoon is popular with LB fishos, you can also have a few sneaky casts around the moorings and piers at sunrise before the workers turn up.
