They are one of the best live baits there is out there for big pelagics I know spanish mackerel have a likin for them

Yep, we used to use them for live baits out off Mackay. Also taste decent - youngest brother used to love using tiny hooks and pulling a few in while the rest of us persevered trying for 'real fish'.

Thanks guys, didnt try using for bait, did eat one though and was quite tasty actually, thought it was a member of the snapper family. Is there a size limit/bag limit on them??? the one we kept we just applied the snapper size but guessing no size limit if you guys are using for bait. Go to be careful was using Tailer for live bait when it dawned on me they had a size limit lol, quickly let the bity little bugger go..

What if it was poisonous? Usually a good idea to find out what it is before eating it.
