Deep Water Bend used to have a boat hire place. Almost every weekend I used to fish here as a kid with limited success, a few whiting, bream, flathead, tailor and mud crabs. An old guy on a house boat at DWB gave me a tip about the location. He said to use his advice and if we did not catch anything, he would refund us all our costs. Nothing to lose, we tried it and caught buckets loads of school jew. From then on, we only fished DWB two nights before the full moon.

Boat hire used to be from the kiosk at deep water bend, which was situated at the left hand side just before the water. You could buy realy fresh bait there, prawns, mullet etc, and some tackle as well. They pulled it down when they built the board walk, much to the disappointment of a lot of people.
