Nsw Drownings

with the NSW government conducting a trial (in a Sydney area) for the mandatory wearing of a PFD when rock fishing, is it a bit ironic that there has been 14 drownings in NSW during this holiday period, none of which has involved rock fishing.

from the reports that I`ve read, it seems, the bulk of these drownings have been with people of an Asia Minor or Pakistan/Indian region background.

maybe the government would be better aiming their resources at an educational campaign at this group in our communities.

Just a thought…

The older and grumpier I get, the less tolerant my view of government departments and other groups, that want legislation introduced that impacts on the (common sense) majority, in attempts to protect a small minority from themselves.

With or without legislation and/or educational programs some will always challenge natural selection.
