Back 2 Tangas Sat Tagging

I had the pleasure of being invited out on "Pole Dancer" out of Mooloolaba last friday for day 1 of the Tangas tournament to deploy 2 satellite tags on some juvenile black marlin. The weather was perfect and we started out early with a 330am departure to make our way out get bait and set up for a 7am kick off out towards Barwan Banks. The fishing started off hot with a bit in the first half hour which was converted and the first sat tag was secured on a fish of about 30kgs (ideal size for the study).  Marlintag2.thumb.jpg.93fde6323fa858bcf2f4f80200e7e6f0.jpg

Within an hour of that fish we were on again with a similar size fish which was playing hard to get, after 45mins of tug-a-war it was boat side and my last tag was deployed.Greatnorthernfish.jpg.c493cddb80ba2d7b56ef87d498bd94b9.jpg

My job on the boat was done so I sat back and enjoyed the comfort of a sizable boat and the taste of a cold beer whilst the rest of the day carried on. I was on rod clearing duty most of the day and camera man. Overall we ended up with a 10-7-5 as the fish bite became less agressive with a couple better fish of about 60kg also being tagged (conventionally). Overall a great day with a great bunch of blokes! curvejump.jpg.bee4ad6afab075175c63d80f7671954d.jpgblacksmall.thumb.jpg.2dbb61f7e7baa09d57c7db5a7b719aaf.jpgblackjump.thumb.jpg.5be2692596577a8c92ae0801dc8ade27.jpgvideo-1488930131.mp4video-1488943907.mp4

wow that's awesome. Some great shots there well done! I am yet to catch a bill fish. One day. :)

Thanks mate. Yeah they are definitely a fair bit of fun and are more accessible then you might think. I am looking at doing some inshore runs for little blacks off the goldy if they ever decide to show up in numbers in my little side console.
