Just opened the new clever coupons that arrived in the junk mail recently, and there is an offer from anaconda that looks interesting (and here is me working for amart!)

It reads : buy 1 silstar proline fishing rod and get 1 free, plus 2 free packets of gulp and 2 anaconda beanies!

sounds like a good deal, does anyone know what a silster proline sells for and what they are like?You need the coupon to get the offer and it's valid till 8/12/07.

The rods are fibreglass and vary in height and weight.

The taller, light weight rods would be really nice for whiting, bream and most other bread and butter fish.

I've never used the heavier ones but can only predict they would be much the same as most other entry level glass rods.

Retail is around $80-$100

Strange, this is the first i've heard of this promotion.

It's not too often our staff find out about these things after our customers do.

went over today to check out these rods.

it was my first time in anaconda and i was quite impressed with the range of product they had.

that said, it seemed a bit like BCF, lots of stock and a few good specials 1/2 price combos etc, but some pretty hefty prices on others. Just goes to show it pays to shop around.

Back to these rods. I agree with Nastymind \" The taller, light weight rods would be really nice for whiting, bream and most other bread and butter fish\".

They didn't seem to have any heavier ones, most were 2-5kg, spin or baitcast, 6ft - 8 ft.

At full price I'd say they are definitly overpriced, but if you need two, and want some gulp and beanies, then it's worth a look.

Looks like a dangerous place to work Nastymind!:silly: Do you spend half your pay there like I do at amamrt?

Basically I am in charge of the fishing, camping and watersports areas.

It is not unusual to end up covering in footwer or fitness though, so you need to know a little bit about everything...yes Stu, even the checkout!

we went to your store the other day to get some roller blades for bella my little girl we got served by just about every staff member it was pretty funny no one really new how to put the damn things on me included then a girl mel i think it was came over and showed all the boys how to put blades on she was great full of very handy advice she really knew what she was doing and cared about us as customers even though you guys were to dear and we ended up at woolies lol we only wanted little kids ones yours were a little flash for us but look after that girl she be good :)

ps silstar powertips are pretty much bullet proof ive had one for 5 yrs and it hasnt even lost a ring and it goes fishing most times i do and gets over worked
