snorkelling in souther moreton bay

Launching a boat from Jacobs Well for the first time to go exploring the islands of Southern Moreton Bay. Are there any recommendations for good snorkelling spots in that area?

Don't live down there so can't help.

We don't snorkel up here in NQ, too many lizards.

Around Peel Island is popular. Around Amity and Dunwich are also good but currents can be up.

I used to dive around Mud Island in my late teens....water clarity there can be rather problematic depending on previous days winds.

Tangalooma wrecks are always a good dive spot.

there's not a lot of snorkelling spots in and around the jacobs well area unfortunately.

if you head south to around the gold coast seaway there is some great spots around the rock walls at the south western corner of south straddie, however, current can be a real problem here.  about 1hr before high tide is when to start and finish not long after the change.  make sure you run a dive flag on your vessel as well.  there is plenty of boat traffic in the channels - the snorkelling is outside the channels and quite shallow but that unfortunately doesn't seem to worry the jetski lice sometimes.
