queensland Coolum 12/06/06

Went to the rocks at Coolum. The beach was fairly blown out, however there was a deeper section washed out in front on teh rocks that looked promising for some bread and butter action.

Turned out to be very slow. Only caught two small Whiting and Tanya caught two others.

It must be said in better conditions this could be a great spot. Someone ahs sussed out the area well. There are rod holders (PVC piping) actually concreted into some cracks in the rocks. Made having a relaxing fish with the GF with a beer even more relaxing.

Will try it again and hope for better results at some stage.

yeh brisbane was pretty slow aswell while you were gone... and from wot i hear from it the tweed was also

I dunno if its perigion or coolum, but yeah one of those has this tidal creek that only fills up of massive tides but yeah theres some good fish in there jacks trevas and whiting..

lol yeh u do look old skool gus dave... the creek your talking about is stummers creek at coolum... wen ther was more tidal flow ther was more reports about jacks being in there... now its almost like a salt water dam... its full of small prawns and big mullet... aswell as sum massive rays and shovel nose sharks that are now trapped in there since the tidal flow is minimal... anything good like jacks, flatties and cod realy should be realesed there since ther isnt much chance of other fish getting into that waterway... trevs are more likely to b cort n the surf at the mouth wen its more calm, then in the creek its self

those huge sand banks r good fun tho jumping and sliding... rely takes it out ofyu tho

I havent fished there in about 5 years, we just got plenty of small stuff jacks and trevally and whiting

The surf at the mouth os Stumers was producing plentyof bream whiting and dart on teh weekend..

were they good sized fish or just small pickers? I would have set a couple of live mullet out for some of those huge bream and jew that they get off reockey head lands.

The fish i saw the old gaffers catching were of a very good size.

Especially the whiting and dart.

How longs that rod?

If its a standard (bullshit) alvey setup, with the first runner half way up (just to maximise line slap during the cast) it must be either 14 foot, or your only 4 foot tall!

Also you should of thrown a set of gangs through that bait, and tossed it back out!

Firstly its 12 foot and im 6.

Secondly i didnt put gangers in it.

I tailed it with a circle and put it back in as the tide was coming in and dusk was coming on.

Nothing, thats gota suck. If you did that at noosa's main beach you would have got a tailor like that. Im really keen to try plastics arount the grions at main beach.
