How do I catch Salmon

I never knew salmon could be caught in the Brisbane river.......

What do I have to do?

Can someone tell me what months they're here, rigs to use, bait etc?

Mate believe or not the most prven and successful method if a heavy handline with a live herring or prawn. This has seen the vast majority of river salmon caught. They are there all year round but certainly more prolific in summer.

I have also seen photo's of a couple of decent salmon caught with Soft Plastic Setups.

Plastic from memory was a green 3'' Powerbait.

Hopefully we will see a few salmon caught at this years Brisbane River Classic.

With those liveys do you attach them to a big lump of lead or a float?

And how do you get those liveys? Cast net?

Is night better than day? Like most fish is the rising tide best?

I read that they're coming on the bite, I'll have to try for a couple.

Hahaha Troy you secretive prick.

Mate all the Salmon i have seen caught are off teh bottom. So considering that the Brisbane River run dam hard and fast, yes a big lead is ideal.

Turn of the tide seems to have the most success, either way.

And yes the bait is caught in a cast net.
