help with a Fish ID

Hey guys,

a mate was fishing the passage yesterday and sent me a txt to describe a fish to me but not much of a detailed explanation but here it is,

had a long snout with big lips a spike just behind its head and 2 under its head and was colourful.

i know its pretty short with info but any suggestions of fish it could be and i will send a pic of it to them so he has a short list.

Sounds like an afghan with a studded collar,if it had a tail definately afghan

try cowfish or box fish

send him a pic of a leatherjacket too..but dont think they have spines under the head??

Could be some sort of Tripod Fish. Infact, pretty sure it might be cause they're pretty common in the passage

Yeah i've caught heaps of tripod fish in the passage aswell cowfish.

we caught a tripod fish today, for a fish with such a tiny mouth it has a good go at eatin your hook, kinda like a leather jacket, their skins like sandpaper.
