  1. Sorry mate I only seen this just now, I went for a solo mish today would have been glad to help
  2. Put heavier line on it and keep it for a heavier setup. Then get cheaper setup for the light stuff which you can get something reasonably priced from bcf when they have sales. Other wise sell on gumtree even though you’ll lose a bit of money then you can Put it towards a better suited setup. And always do bulk research before buying a rod to make sure it’s what you want
  3. Unreal tugger. Nice to rinse the salt off every once in a while
  4. Good luck hopefully there’s still a few tailor about for you!
  5. Nah nagala itself was fine just the people who were using it, not so much. Seen quite a few people who need to get some new tyre de flation gauges I reckon
  6. Bump for @Drop Bear who if I remember right is heading to Fraser soon, hope you get into them if your arm isnt dislocated from that Cracker Jack!

Also some broken bottom Areas on the western side of the bay Will produce small cuttlefish (snapper baits !)when jigs are fished very close to the bottom. And if your bottom bashing Deeper water and you think your snagged but you get some line back and then dead weight its quite often a lump of coral or rock on the end of your hook, But every now and then it’s a big cuttlefish or sometimes octopus.
  12. Yeah mate just wish I hooked up. It’s the old model 7000h. Got it this year completely unused from a collector at a Really good price.
  13. Yeh cheers man it was so good. We seen six or seven Spanish cruising the flats but unfortunately never had my big rod handy at the right moment. Did Look a bit out of place with all the tailor fishos Along the beach when I started launching 180 mm stickbaits on the dogfight tho
  14. No the funny thing was the were only very small patches, I think this was just the remenance of what had been flogged for the past few months. The thing was the water was so flat and clear and they were only in about 2 metres of water. If were were in the surf there’s no way we would have spotted them. We thought they were bait balls initially
  15. Hi all recently returned from an epic week long camping trip on Fraser Island. Headed up there last Saturday with Damo (forgot his user name) his dad and a few of his mates. With the wind forecast to be blowing from the east/southeast all week the call was made to setup camp on the very northern side of Fraser providing great protection from the wind. was pretty bloody tough waking up to this every morning for seven days straight!! We were pretty blessed on the fishing front we lost count of just how many tailor we caught not to mention plenty of whiting too. our days were spent driving the northern beach sight casing to schools of fish. With the majority of fish nailed on poppers. I havnt done a great deal of tailor fishing or beach fishing in general so had planned on taking mostly slugs. Luckily I listened to Damo who told me to pack surface lures. So I dug up this old faithful who hadn’t made an appearance since nailing black and spot tail bass in png with @Do$tylz and @Angusfish after fish were caught on poppers and was great to see so many visual strikes. Especially when you see a lone fish leave the Saftey of the school and scoot four or five metres from the pack to smash our offerings. Also caught fish on slugs hardbodies and the humble pilly but the popper was the most effective. Between catching bulk fish sinking bulk beers and daily feeds of fresh fish and bbq could not have asked for a better trip. High lites for me were getting my pb tailor at 58cm on surface. Seeing heaps of turtles resting and walking up the beach. And trying queenfish sushimi. Any ways I’ll let the pics tell the story from here enjoy!
  16. Nice work bro, love seeing those lime green flames on your boat back on the site again, hopefully I see you out on the water soon!
  17. Terrible news. Whilst I never got to know him well, the handful of times I had crossed paths with him whilst launching my boat at Cleveland he was Always keen to share his vast knowledge and help me with a game plan. A terrible loss as a bloke and also to this website and fishing in general. When I bought bulk prawns from him at his house from his mate on the trawler one time I must have changed the order 3 or four times and he was so accommodating, easy going and up for yarn something I specifically remembered about him as I drove off. RIP Lance

    Squid

Clean water is key, if going land based winter is the best on the mainland. Broken rock and broken weed beds will hold. Rainbow and rouse hold good numbers. If your ever bottom bashing straddie inshore usual spots like middle reef, big halfway etc be sure to drop a squid jig with a four or five ball sinker above or below the jig then wind up five metres of the bottom and place your rod in the rod holder. Solid squid when targeted like this but not too many people do it.
  19. Yeah nice looks like you’ll have your bases covered. Good luck hope you smash it mate.
  20. Thanks I’m gonna go with the one that @benno573 suggested. Seems pretty good for the price.
  21. Nice, I’ll be doing a week on Fraser this month so I should have a report for you! Also what combos did you end up settling on for the swains?
  22. Also while we’re making requests to the weather gods I’ll have no rain from the 10th to the 17th of October and some gentle south westerlies.
