    Sinker Moulds

Cheers ted thanks for the offer, I ended up finding a set I can use from a mate
  3. Go there if the Jews are schooled up there you'll see them on your sounder, it does happen there and plenty of Jew have been pulled of it. If they're not there just move on but can be worth a look
  4. Yeah mate that’s it. Comet cod/ comet groper
  5. Oops I meant to write comet groper
  6. Just did a google of Australian cods and gropers and of a list of a about forty plus fish the first one I picked was a comet groomer for obvious reasons and I think I found it. Very cool looking fish.
  7. Nice fish looks like a mint boat too! What type of cod are those things with the black vein like markings on them I e never seen them before?

    Safety First

That’s such a straight forward one but one I am far too guilty of not doing. I’m gonna start making a habit of this on my solo missions. A good reminder
  9. I think we all agree that one counts mate north or south
  10. Well done to you and your family for putting in the miles for a good cause. Donated just now
  11. Well done, that’s a great flatty and cool to see you get it on a lure too. Great report aswell!
  12. There’s some deeper water right out side the mouth of the creek In front of Newstead house. Plenty of Jew thready and snapper have been caught of the pontoon right at the mouth. I’d try anchoring right at the mouth or just to the left or right of it. Use your sounder to find the ledge or hole see if there is some bait there and anchor up current of this and send baits down to wards these areas. If tide is running in try sitting out side and position some baits to sit just inside the mouth to tempt any fish enterIng the creek

    Rigs - Help

Keep at it you’ll start to work out which techniques work best in your area with more time spent on the water. ill give you a good tried and true method for any land based areas with good structure, ie pontoons jetties and rock walls etc. it’s basically the land based technique of what we call float-lining when we are in a boat but it can be a lethal technique on the land as well so long as the tide is not racing too much. this should draw out some bread and butter species( best done around tide change but not essential if there is not a lot of flow or current) first step is tie at least one rod length of light Fluro carbon leader (Fluro is different to mono in that it is less visible to fish In The water). 6 to 8 pound is a good starting point even though you will get busted off you’ll get plenty more hookups. Next tie straight to this ( no swivel sinker or trace) a small hook like a size 3/0. Then try as best you can to weave your bait into the hook so you can’t really see the hook medium size peeled prawns are ideal. So are one or two yabbies. next you want to lob your bait close to the structure but not so close that you won’t be able to land the fish and leave your bail arm on the reel open as you hold the line between your fingers and letting it naturally slide through as the bait drifts down the water column. Keeping your eyes on your line the whole time. When the line starts unnaturally ripping through your fingers immediately close the bail arm and its game on! when I was younger I lost count of the amount of times this technique landed me quality bream when other techniques were not working. I use to love as a young fella heading to a pontoon or jetty just as the sun was coming up throwing some bread burley and using this technique (minus the Fluro lol) to catch a few bream for lunch. best of luck!
  14. There’s some real quality Moses out there at the moment, we’ll done guys

    Look Closely!

Also on the topic of hooks if you need to make a up bulk sets of trebles for 1770, double seven double sixes in the bulk packs are strong as hell and good value

    Look Closely!

Yep won’t use gamakatsus any more as I’ve seen it all from bent hooks to hooks snapping in half. Mustard big guns these days or the hoodlums if I’m chasing unstoppables
  20. Good session mate gotta love fighting the salmon on the light line!
  21. Just type In fire wood on gumtree under all adds and then refine your search and change price type to free, I did it then for you and got over 20 results for Brisbane area. Hopefully one of them is close and handy to your scout hall/ club.

  23. Yeah looks perfect I’ve contemplated adding something like that to my rig either fuel or water as my where windscreen Meets the clears is right at my eye level so a fifty to sixty litre “ step” would be a great option So I’m not ducking or tiptoeing especially when bar crossing.I think I’m gonna look into it.
  24. A great option so your not governed by the tides just make sure you have good sized anchor
  25. Looks good mate does it need a breather or not really as it is just for storage I spose?
