queensland Wading @ Clontarf Saturday 1.30pm

Snuck out for an unplanned wade in the shallows around Clontarf. Got there on the low tide and fished around 90 mins of the incoming. Due to the rush, forgot my spare jigs, so I only had the one I rigged on the rod to start (so I took great care around the structure).

Flicked 3" Gulp Shrimp and got 9 flathead, dropped a few others. Kept 2 just over 40cm for a feed. All others were in the 35-40cm bracket.

I did end up snagging my last jig, but this time decided not to dive to unhook in the waders. As a result, ended up throwing on one of those SX hardbodies (I think SX60) and got 2 further hookups, one a very nice fish, but they both decided to do some arobatics which I was trying to avoid, and both spat the lure. I might use these lures more often (again thanks for sharing the info on them).

Well done Stewie. Near the jetty? the wells? upstream of the bridge? Lucky you had your day cos the BIG blow is on it's way. Hope they eat well.:woohoo: :laugh:

wallyfly: Started at the boat ramp and headed west toward the wells. Didn't get that far though. Yeh, one of the reasons I snuck out was the weather outlook.
