I would like a bit of info on land based fishing at Wivenhoe dam. Heard rumours that it holds big bass.

take a trip up there and suss it out, there are plenty of spots there. It should start to come alive up that way soon.

Hey mate, there are selective fishing areas on Wivenhoe, you need a fishing permit which you can get from Wivenhoe Dam Info or futures complex at fernvale, most of the land around wivenhoe is private property and also leased to private clubs so stick to recreational areas- a map and info can be obtained from the info centre.

hi bass guy there are some monster fish in wivenhoe and not just bass. Go to logans inlet mate. I fish there every 2 weeks and do great. The bass are there you just have to put up with the Brisbane river trout that also nail ya lures. As soon as that lazy ranger opens the gate around 6:30 drive down and start working surface lures along the bank. Walk along the bank to the orange deep water marker that is closest to the bank it is on a point out the front of the camping area its good fishing if you use the right lures.

oh yeah you will see snakes even in the water mate be carefull. i havnt been out there yet and not seen one. eastern brown ,copper head,king brown.
