Just got back from a great little session wading around at Clontarf. Started late'ish (7.30am) after a big night. Flicked the 3" Gulp Shrimp around. Perfect weather. Pleasure to be around the water and didn't care if I didn't get any action. Turned out to be a few flathead around though. Biggest went 63cm and another at 59cm. My Holy Grail (70cm+) still remains elusive, but I am starting to get confident I can get a shot at one this year. Heaps of small ones in the 35-40cm range which were also fun. The water was bloody clear and I could see flathead lies everywhere on the walk back, some of a good size ... another day perhaps.

better than the session i had last night at the hornibrook flats. i'm pretty sure i know where to go now instead of where i was last night, so hopefully next weekend i'll get out again and have better luck.

Definitely a few good ones in the area. I haven't had a great deal of success at night with flathead. I do like my waders and sneaking around at night would scare the bejezus out of me.

Your definitely consistent on the good size flatties. Can I ask what you were using?

bmx: I have been using the Gulp 3" Shrimp in various colours (depending what I can get on sale). All on light braid and 10 pound leader. The outfit is some combo (around $150) that the guy from Tackleworld recommended for beginners and I love the thing.
