queensland KOOKA PARK 11-2-07

Hi Guys, Spent a couple of hours at Kooka park this morning. Droped wiffee at Blacksoil to work(someones got to earn a BUCK while I fish) Arrived at kooka at 3 AM .Castnetted upstream from ramp got some bonys and poddys and rubbish left behind by others.Baited up heavy line with livey (20lb main 60lb mono trace)on the surface.Bottom fished light gear (catties for crabpots)caught a couple of catties. At 5 AM big run on heavey line bitten off. Rigged up and back out with another livey, with in 10 mins another run and another bite of,by 6AM had another 3 good runs all with the same ending.Should take advice in posts and use wire. At 7 am ski boats arrived with noisey motors so packed up and came home.First time at Kooka and I am impressed at the clean and tidy grounds,good spot.Next time will take the boat lots of surface action on the other side bank.

Tally--4 catties suitable for crabpots(marchooy trip next week-end)

5 good runs (all biten off)

1 large eel (cut off at trace)

bummer about the bite offs, but yeah as Angus said wire is mandatory. Even with wire you can still get bite offs but generally you will be a lot more successfull:whistle:
