fishing in oceanside california

went fishing sunday from 830 am to 6pm. mostly small croakers then at 4pm. 1-1.5 hours before low tide i caught the following

bait used: fresh mussels pried off the rocks

rig: carolina rig with 10lb flouro leader and size 4 red octopus

time: 4pm'ish

Setup: 7'4 medium rod with abu revo sx loaded with 8lb p-line original(blue)

weight: 3.12 lb on a digi scale

thanks bro. but unfortunately she has been sold. im selling off all the larger fishing gear in preparation for my move there. i was in the process of getting her a small motor but i forwent that idea. ill just get a boat there after the move. but i wont part with my rods. if need be ill send it ahead by air freight. only problem is i have several rods that are 7-9 foot one piece models.

If you can get round to the South Bay area there is good fishing off the Hermosa and Manhattan piers.. Plenty of small sharks too... Used to live in Hermosa for 6 months.

haha.. hermosa brings back some memories

if you walk left along the water from Hermosa, there's a yacht club. When I saw it 4 years ago, there was a mini fish kill in there and I saw some good sized cod-looking fish.

oh sorry bout the misplacement. its a spot fin croaker. thats actually just a decent size. my biggest to date is a 11.8 pound fish. huge shoulders and moves like a tank. right now deciding on whether to go on a charter. we are catching yellowtail tuna and smaller yellowfin tuna. but it isnt wfo yet so i may just wait till it heats up a lil. fish on brothas fish on..

Redondo Beach is left.. Thats the Marina Nice part of the world.

yeah i prefer san diego to hermosa and la areas. alot cooler compared to the la areas(gets too damn hot) as you notice im built more like an eskimo. :cheer: also its a 1.5 hour drive for me with no traffic compared to 1 hour to sd.
