NPD Saratoga & Garfish

Hi Fishos, With the hot weather , it's time we saw some saratoga especially as the gar are showing up in some places. Be good for fly fishing for both species. Might go upstream shortly and drag Dino along with his flygear too. It is a sight to behold when Den hooks into a fish on fly ... subtle handling ... totally different to when he hooks into a bass on lures. Fly guys, the fun is about to start for this season . :cheer: Ian

what fly do gar take? small bread ones?

if you feel like taking a novice along, give me a yell. had some lessons with Nial Logan, but yet to get a hook up with the long wand!

I've heard the best method is to burley up with a bit of bread, and then cast the small bread fly's through it. Seems a bit cheap, but it will definately work

Hi Fellers, Gar take white flies tied ...Strike indicator pattern -- white deer hair spun behind a small piece of white EVA foam on a 10-12 nymph hook trim hair by squeesing between thumb and forefinger then clip with scissors, dropper 8 inches {200mm} behind indicator ... white chenille wrapped along No 16 hook shank. 4lb dropper mono. Dino and I will probably be at Bullocky Rest 6am tomorrow {Tues} unless the wind gets up early too. Bread for burley , bucket for fish if you want to keep them. See you there. Tight lines. :cheer: Ian
