queensland Mermaid Mackeral

Well a sad day for me finally sold the sea jay sp but went out for the last fish at mermaid reef thismorning...

headded out at 3am through the seaway off for the last time in me baby .got down to the reef by 20 past anchored up and started the burly and checking the rigs ready for a mackeral bash diddent take long for the barracuda to find the trail and start hammering the pillies by 4 30 barracuda went off the bite and the first mackeral took the bait and from bout 4 30 to 8 00 was a steady run of mackeral even with wire lost more than we boated but all up bagged out and started throwing them back great fun on light spin outfits ....... by now the bait ran out and the bite was slowing so we motored back to the seaway ,,,on the way encountered school after school of good size mactuna ,,,,,.... All up lost count on the total of mackeral exept for what we took home and 6 tuna and couple of cudas for the crab pots ,,,,,,,,,, had an awsome morning but sad to see my baby go.........
