freshwater gear for salt (flyfishing)

am i able to use a freshwater fly kit for saltwater?

i have a 6wt fresh gillies starter rod reel line etc....

i dont use it often sat all. i am going to Bribie Island for a few days

and thought i might try my luck for some whiting/bream/flathead on fly

i am very new to the art of FLY

should be fine. Just strip all the line off the reel when you get home and give it a good wash and lube. Don't forget to wipe down the fly line also and treat it also

I've had success with small clear slider soft plastics in the shallows catching good whiting and any clouser style fly that gets down to the bottom for flathead.

The wind is up a bit this weekend, so watch out you don't pierce your own ears out there :ohmy:
