Hi guys can anyone tell me where is the closet reef outside of the southport seaway and where can i get live bait from while out there. GPS marks would be great for first timer seaside.

not a salt regular myself, but from what i have read, bait can and does move around a lot so you may need a few spots. previously have just cast net inside a harbour for herring i think it was and cleaned up on grassies with them.

otherwise use your sounder over reefs, drop a sabiki rig, or even channel markers hold bait. chuck one out while still jigging as hungry fish can be around.

There is a bait ground not very far at all from the seaway, i will try and put up the marks i have,i dont use the marks,i dont have a offshore boat or a gps, but i collect marks for when i do.

here are a few marks that i have,sorry i had use to phone to get them on to afo.give them a go and good luck.

when just outside turn south and run down around a mile or so down near narrow neck there is an old wreck the scottish prince there are usually boats early morning on a weekend collecting bait there just inshore from a set of shark drum lines then there are a number of close reefs inshore with boats usually on them due east from that area
