hey guys,

Thought i would post up my first report after many years of just lurking around the shadows on this site.

Me and few mates headed up to inskip point last week to test out the boat that we have been building and customizing for the last few years. We picked it up on thursday night with a brand spankers 100hp yamaha and was ready to test it out.

We headed out around the wide bay mouth for some fishing to run it in. We got plenty of little fish hitting plastics and metal lures, with the first fish to hit the boat after a compete rebuild was a nice 30cm wrasse (unfortuanly no pics of this one) this also gave us a chance to strech the legs of the new 100hp and on a 19.5 fibreglass centre console it was still able to acheive 63kms/h wiht 5 people on board, not to bad we didnt think, will make moreton a breeze.

Saturday morning we got up at the crack of dawn and headed out to some wide reefs of Double Island Point. First real fish to hit the deck was a 60cm Maori Cod, what a great start. After a couple of hours in less than favourable conditions we also double hooked up to 70cm snapper. We filled the esky with ease with many other little reefys and pelagics including a few nice turrum, a few good Grassies, moses and smaller snapper (40-45cm), well and truely enough for a good feed for the 9 of us up there. We also got blown away by alot of fish that where just unstoppable and took us around the pinicles in about .5of a second. Also ended up with a nice bonito off the bottom as well, on a whole squid which was a bit odd. No sign of any real pelagics on the troll tho =( A shout out goes to the two apprentices that spent their whole time burleying, these fish wouldnt of hit the deck with out their skilled burlying ;)

Sunday morning was picture perfect mill pond weather, which was good. We headed out the the same very rough ground a decent way out and again found plenty of decent Maori Cod, another 70cm snapper and a few more turrum, moses and others. We also managed a nice size tuna which was good to feed the the fellas that stayed because they where too soft ;)

Here is a few pictures of the fish and the first stage of the boat being finished, Will be posting more reports as we start to fish some more locally.

Note me dragging my mrs out, she HAD to where my life jacket the whole time (in the river) Must of been the split second she wasnt grasping me in fear for her life tho :P

we where rapped, especially mitch, seeing is it actually is his boat and he pays for it all. lol

there will me many more big smiles from both of us, and hopefully many more reports. i dont think my fat face could of smilled any more with the catch, especially with my biggest snapper for a few years and my first ever maori cod. and mitch (tall fella) was equally as rapped with the fish we managed to produce, first trip.

Needless to say we put 14hours on the motor in the first weekend
