TSS, WTF?

Can someone enlighten me as to why at the moment there is a Shimano TSS-4 on eBay going for $90 with 1/2 an hour left?

This is not the first time I have seen these sell for around $100 (or more) on eBay. They say they are a collectors item.

I have on I bought about 6 years ago used it once and its been sitting there ever since.

they (shimano) stopped making them some 5-6 years ago, and they have a great reputation as a good workhorse high speed spinning reel. not many reels surrently made have similar specs, very popular with the makerel fishos I think.

Is that so . Maybe i should put mine on eBay I'd part with it for $100 or even trade for something that would suit my new rod.

For us 'old guys' the tss series was really the only real high speeder of the '90's if you wanted something to last a whole tuna and mackeral season. It was rough as guts compared to the reels of today but it was the best allrounder available. If you want a real shock, wait till a TSS2 or a TSS3 comes up on Ebay in original box and un-used, expect it to go closer to $300
