mangrove jack

Just wondering if u can give me some advice on rods and reel's, im getting into soft plastics now so i bought myself a berkley dropshot im6 gen 3 rated at 2-4 Kg matched with a abu garcia omega 2500 reel, mainly for bream and flathead from banks, now in january im going up to noosa and thinking about chasing mangrove jack in the noosa river up there, now should i use that or get the next one up a 3000 reel and the same berkley rod rated at 6-8 Kg, i know what size line to use and shit just stuck on rod and reel size, any help would be appreciated thanx.

Hey mate I think the 6-8 kilo rod will do the job nicleybut if the funds can go a bit further I would go up to the 4000 size reel and look for somthing with the smoothest drag along with the more ball bearing's the better will help.good luck.

depends on your budget mate how much you willing to spend? and what lb mainline / leader you using to chase the jacks?

well, i was thinking if it was possible to make a snapper/jack and barra sp rod, is it possible or would i need to have spare spools with different line sizes on them to change over for chasing different fish on the day.
