Harry Snotter and the Prisoner of Atkinson

So wit my new boat ready and new sounder fitted I decided to head out to Harry Atkinson for a look around.

Firstly it was off to Wello for some live bait. Got there and conditions were wonderful - no swell and little wind. We quickly got some whiting and small squire which fed the local dolphin hanging around. After a while the bite dried up so we headed out to Harries..

We found the pipes fairly easily and started putting some baits down. Frustratingly though within minutes each rod was covered in the thick revolting weed that seems to be plaguing many parts of the bay lately. Next stop was the search for the Tiki Pearl - sad to say though I think someone stole it as we could not find it at all

After some more drifts back around the pipes with more snot week and no results we heeded back around Wello and got some great action on small squire and some squid.

All in all a fun trip. Some fish at Harries would have been good but there is always next time - hopefully minus the snooty weed!

good to see you got out to peel, pitty about the good old snot weed...but atleast you ended up getting onto some small pinkies in the end...

I took a quick trip to harrys last week and had the same problem

Enjoyed the read its a pain in the arse when you hit snot weed, still sounded like a great sesh

depends on the weather.... some yrs it has hung around for just over 1 mth other yrs 2 weeks
