queensland Yakking out from wello 13/11/11

So I decided to take out my Yak and go hit some reefs and drop offs out off Wellington Point. Paddled out past the markers and found my spot and got straight onto a 25cm Squire. I had to fight with the wind alot to try and keep onto the fish once i'd found them. Got another 3 squire exactly the same as that one. Halfway through my session I remembered the 'Nomad' app i downloaded on my phone and turned it on and found that I had travelled 2.94km In the 1 hr 40 I had the app switched on with a Max speed of 7.2 km/h and average speed of 3.1km/h. Not a bad little effort! I am absolutly buggered from fighting the wind and I think I need to invest in an Anchor system for the Yak!

Nice work on the little squire Milan. Was that the blooding of the yak? If so, looks like it has some mojo would have been a hard slog with the wind, good effort.

I just got myself a yak, havent fitted it out with a ff yet

but when I do im heading to a couple of those reefs myself!

2 litre milk bottle filled with sand is as good an anchor as any. ill hold your position and won't scratch the deck of the new yak and is cheap. Plenty of good pan size squire there. Just keep at them.

Its a Dragonfly/lifetime depending on where you buy it from.. Im pretty happy with it, however I being my first yak I dont really have anything to judge/compare it with. 2 Litre milk bottle Thanks tomca.. GENIUS!

Nice work Milan - would have been very tough once the wind got up - I even found the wading hard.
