I'm just wondering what's the best time ofday to hit up the threadies at themouth?

Also livebait vs servo bait?

As I'm wanting to use my 1st trip in my yak to go after the threadies I've lost previously there

Always live bait over any other bait no matter what your fishing for if you have a castnet shouldn't be to hard to get some lives near the poop shoot

+1 with live bait. The morning from 4am to 10am i found most effective for threadys

live herring not to big nor small, bout 8-12cm or chuck out the good old mr jackall alone the drop off's, also afew hours before high ive always had my best sessions... dont wanna use to big of a sinker as well, maybe a 2 or 3 size with a 5/0 circle hook.. bout 40cm's of 20lb, swivel then ...

After the last few times I wenbt after them, I now run 40lb braid just for those pesky buggers lol

As far as bait goes, Im short a casting net so wont be able to do that, so other options?

Maybe jigging for the bait?

Which will mean ill have to build a livewell for my yak before this trip of mine

downscale mate 15lb will be plenty and not sure how u will go as the river is chocolate

i tride to jig for the herring around the poo shute but no good just throw the net its quik and easy

Mate buy some transams hop them of the drop offs find some bait and you will find threadys near buy transams or masks or jellyprawns lures are my go to lures

Unfortunatly Ive just forked out for a kayak, I certainly dont think Ill get permission to spend another $70odd on a cast net

Yes I got a sounder fitted to my yak, Ill maybe have a chance to throw a net from my yak without going for a swim later on when I install my small motor and outriggers for stability.

Ill check out those lures, as I would rather keep my yak for lures mainly, just so it dosent get fish bait guts and slime all over it

Forget the live bait thing and use thready busters or river2sea flexi vibe 45. You don't need to fish heavy gear for them. They pull kinda hard but its quite easy to subdue them on light tackle.
