A rod to suit a contender g40l

Hi all just wondering what sort of rod i need to buy to suit a pflueger g40l reel and what size line for outside bottom bashing and trolling? currently its spooled with 50 pound igfa mono but would like to go with braid. any help would be much appreciated.
