NP on the news.......

For those who missed the report on NP dam approxamently 5000 dead fish have washed up on shores today from the extreme cold water temperatures of 13.5 compared to the expected 15 for this time of the year. Mostly were tilapia and perch (I saw a few dead bass aswell) and it is estimated that there is approxamently 1 million fish in NP dam and authorities are expecting more deaths from the cold to occur over the next few weeks. Clean up crews are working on cleaning up all the dead carcasses for burial.

Mother nature might be cleaning up the Tilapia problem for us, hope not to many bass and perch die though

Yeah that doesnt surprise me. We saw a huge number of dead fish on the last trip trip there.

Sadly though, there were a few bass (one well over 50) thrown in.

Troy also saw 3 dead toga within about 50m of each other. Thats not cool.

When we fished Ewen Maddock the other day, the water was so cold my feet and ankles hurt while I was rigging the canoe. And thats within seconds of getting them in the water.

same thing happened to us at hinze did not take long for my feet to go numb

I don't know u Queenslanders don't know what cold is:P , I used to go fly fishing at Lake Jindabyne and Eucumbene and snowstorms were quite frequent, line used to freeze to the rod guides:laugh:

yeah i saw it on the news too, can't say i'm sad to see tillies dieing, I just hope there isn't a pollution problem!
