trolling braid or mono

if you were trolling around canals what would you use braid or mono,and are the small rods used a special rod?just say for trolling,also if in these areas what sought of size braid/mono you use 6lb etc.thanks john

no nothing special about the rods, and the line doesnt really matter as long as you have a working drag system to release line when you get hit'

i pesonally prefer baitcasting gear over spin gear for trolling

Hi John, as Jeff has said you can use your old fiberglass rod and mono line for trolling the canals no worries.

However the light weight graphite rods are a lot more sensitive and lighter to use, also using braid will allow the lures to go deeper and work better because it is half the thickness of mono and has no stretch.

Just make sure you have a meter of flurocarbon leader on the end of the braid and your lure is attached by a loop knot.

Standard set up for canals would be 6 or 8 lb braid and 12 leader for trolling, cheers wayne
