There were a couple of kayak comps on the weekend. I made it along to Sundays bream round at Broadbeach for a bit of a look. Few yaks turned up

One clown turned up late, and returned after the 2pm deadline.

Dell took out Boss Hog with this 1.08kg bream. This one fish weighed more than some 3 fish bags entered!

Even this choker managed to catch a couple of fish

But Dell was pipped by a young fella from Port Macquarie who's mum drove him up to compete.

Do the rules state that you need to own a Hobie to compete
No you don't need a Hobie to compete, I use my tempo with no problems. Keep in mind some tournaments require the use of a livewell so your kayak will need to be able to handle one safely. KFT is coming back to Qld next year and that is a great series that doesn't require the use of livewells, also the Hobie bass kayak series doesn't require them but they have now finished for the year.
