Thought I would post this as there were a few members interested in the tagging back when nadders was posting reports from the river. Been a few tagged jewies recaptured with a couple travelling a fair way south. Details of an interesting one.

That is pretty interesting, if jewies are moving between here and Iluka and probably further, it is even more positive that NSW just raised their size limits there. I wonder how far they venture south and how often they return to our waters.

Have a little theory on jew, I reckon they go both ways up and down the coast depnding on the fresh outflows. Then again probably just the ramblings of a crusty old fart :whistle:

Great minds think alike!!! So in theory of recent years we've been releasing them so that NSW anglers can catch and keep them - good to see that we will now benefit from them increasing their minimum size. Given their growth rate it should only take a handful of years for us to see a real increase in numbers (assuming of course that big numbers of them move around).

Majority went south, best outcome of the Inshore Finfish Review was raising the minimum size to 75cm get 1 or 2 spawns before they are legal and now we have a sustainable fishery. NSW should have gone with 75cm as well.
